Sound Healing and Sound Baths

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration”
– Nikola Tesla (1856–1943)
Research into sound, frequency, and vibration in relation to water has shown that sound can affect the structure and movement of water. This is particularly fascinating, considering that the human body is composed of approximately 70% water, suggesting that sound and vibration can also have a direct effect on our physiology and consciousness.
The Japanese researcher Masaru Emoto (1943–2014) became especially well-known for his experiments in which he exposed water to different sounds, words, and intentions. When the water was frozen, it formed:
- Harmonic and beautiful crystals when exposed to positive words, classical music, or prayer.
- Chaotic and asymmetrical shapes when exposed to negative words or disharmonic sounds.
Although Emoto’s research is controversial in scientific circles, it has inspired many within alternative healing and consciousness studies. Today, water researcher Veda Austin continues this approach, viewing water as a liquid intelligence that reflects and communicates with all living beings.
The Healing Power of Sound – A Language the Body Understands
Because the body is made up of water, sound becomes a channel for deep influence.
Low-frequency sound waves have been shown to:
- Promote tissue healing
- Reduce inflammation
- Create emotional balance
The water in your body functions as a conductor of sound, which may explain why we react so strongly to certain tones and frequencies. Our thoughts, our environment – and the way we speak to ourselves – affect us physically and energetically. This is why sound healing can help you:
- Create balance in your inner dialogue
- Raise your energy
- Connect with your intentions and your higher self
The History of Sound – From Philosophy to Science
How can sound healing support you?
Sound, frequency, and vibration have fascinated both mystics and scientists throughout history. Many studies suggest that sound can be an effective and positive way to influence both physical and mental well-being.
Examples from history include:
- Pythagoras (c. 570–495 BCE), who viewed the universe as musical and used sound for healing – the basis of the Solfeggio frequencies.
- Albert Einstein (1879–1955), who said, “Everything in life is vibration.” His equation E = mc² shows that all is energy.
- Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961), who described how sensory experiences like sound can activate archetypes and deeper layers of the psyche, thereby influencing our unconscious.
How Does Sound Healing Work?
Everything is energy and vibration – including your body and thoughts. During stress, illness, or emotional imbalance, your frequencies may fall out of harmony.
- Resonans: Sound influences the body’s natural frequencies
- Sammenkobling: Sound creates balance and flow in the energy field
In sound healing, I use instruments such as gongs, shamanic drums, crystal bowls, singing bowls, and tuning forks. These sounds create resonance in the body and affect both your physical and mental well-being.
Each instrument has a unique effect:
- Gong: Produces deep, transformative vibrations that calm the nervous system and release blockages. It is known for working with both the conscious and unconscious mind.
- Crystal Bowls: Made of quartz crystal and tuned to specific frequencies, often aligned with the chakras – bringing calm and balance.
- Tibetan Singing Bowls: Originating from Buddhist tradition, they are often used in meditation and healing. Their overtones help soothe the mind and stimulate the body’s healing processes.
Sound Healing in Therapy and Personal Development
- Stress reduction
- Releasing trauma and emotional tension
- Deepening self-connection and personal growth
- Chakra balance and spiritual grounding
With the deep, rhythmic primal sound of the shamanic drum and gong – and the lightness and clarity of singing bowls – a profound anchoring is created. Sound doesn’t just affect the body, but also the aura – the bio-electrical field around us.
- Your body aligns with the healthy frequency of the sound
- Both your physical and energetic states are balanced
- Your ability for self-regulation and healing is activated
